Set Up Instructions
In each pair, the student who needs support plays as Player One. It is their job to fill the set of steps to begin play. Instruct them to start at 10 and fill in order, backward to one, counting aloud as they place the blocks. This gives them extra opportunity to practise counting backwards.
A little harder
Set Up Instructions
The pair of students work together, taking turns to fill the set of steps from 10 to 1. This gives students practise counting backwards when their oral string of “10, 9, 8…” is broken by their partner’s turn.
