Locate 4, 6, 7, 8

The numbers that are most difficult to locate are 4, 6, 7 and 8. Support students to learn these by writing 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9 on the write and wipe sleeve using a dry erase marker. This will reduce the cognitive load. Students focus on learning to locate:

  •  4 as one before 5
  • 6 as one after 5
  • 7 and 8 by counting on from 5

Once students are fluent locating 4, 6, 7 and 8 they can complete the core activity as is, without additional numbering.
